Kalea is a startup dedicated to reducing organic waste with its fully automatic kitchen composter. I developed the initial user interface for an app that allows users to monitor and manage the KALEA composter wirelessly.

Research
Before designing the interface for this app, I needed to thoroughly understand how the KALEA composter functions. This knowledge allowed me to identify and prioritize the most relevant features for users interacting with the composter. I gathered this research data from the company's website and from personal experiences with composting food.

Design Rationale
Design Rationale
My design rationale for this app centered on highlighting the environmental impact of KALEA. To reflect this, I selected a color palette featuring various shades of green, including sage green, and incorporated the blue-green hue from KALEA’s website to create visual harmony throughout the app. Consistency across pages was a priority to ensure the design remains intuitive and user-friendly. The app is designed to be straightforward, allowing users to easily monitor their KALEA product.I utilized a variety of icons to facilitate navigation and enhance user familiarity with the interface. A dashboard on the home screen provides quick access to key compost updates, enabling users to check these details without leaving the main page. For more in-depth information, users can navigate to the compost section via the middle icon in the lower navigation bar. Additionally, I included a social impact section where users can track their personal environmental contributions on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
